Just hours after Facebook announced that it would prevent President Trump from posting new posts until opening day at the earliest, former first lady Michelle Obama called on social media platforms to permanently ban him from their platforms.

“Now is the time for Silicon Valley companies to stop enabling this monstrous behavior – and go even further than they’ve done by permanently banning this man from their platforms and enacting policies to prevent their technology is being used by the country’s leaders to fuel the uprising. ”Michelle Obama said in a Twitter post on Thursday.

Her post dealt with many issues, including the stark contrast between how rioters were treated at the Capitol on Wednesday versus the violence that Black Lives Matters protesters experienced over the summer, saying she prays for Americans to be President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala will give. Harris a chance.

Until yesterday, Trump had primarily gotten a free pass from Twitter, Facebook, Google’s YouTube and other social networks, which allowed him to freely post lies and conspiracy theories during his presidency, sometimes only flagging that they were presenting disputed information.

Facebook’s move to block Trump followed a day of gradually escalating restrictions on its activity as rioters, spurred by Trump’s baseless allegations of electoral fraud, swarmed the Capitol and occupied offices there.

Additionally, Twitter temporarily suspended Trump’s account on Wednesday, and Google’s YouTube on Thursday imposed new restrictions on channels posting videos with false election claims.
