BERLIN (Reuters) – European Council President Charles Michel is suffering from bad nights due to his embarrassment over a venue arrangement at a meeting in Ankara this week, he told the German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Ursula Von der Leyen, the first woman president of the European Commission, expressed her surprise and raised her hand in disbelief when she discovered that Michel had occupied the only seat available next to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in talks.
In the episode, caught in the room, she ended up being demoted on a couch, further.
“I don’t hide the fact that I didn’t sleep well at night, because the scenes repeat themselves in my head,” Michel told Handelsblatt, adding that it would be possible for him to return and repair it.
