Chef José Mendín, one of the owners of La Placita restaurant in Miami, Florida, assured through social networks that the authorities in that city have notified him again that he must delete the mural of the Puerto Rican flag that is in the mentioned place.

“Here we go again. The city of Miami and the MiMo neighborhood in the middle of the pandemic have nothing better to do than tell us again after all we’ve been through to remove our flag. This is ridiculous. Maybe MiMo doesn’t know it’s worth the flag. I’m tired of being attacked for complying with the code. We won’t give up so easily, but this is just nonsense, “Mendín wrote on the internet next to a photo of the document.

The act of Julián Gil, who also owns the restaurant, expressed through his stories on Instagram that the act of the authorities is an abuse and that the mural will not be erased.

The dispute over the island’s flag began in 2018, when the place opened. However, in January 2020, after years of dispute and communication, the city commissioners voted in favor of maintaining the mural as it stands.
