The Mets missed star center George Springer, who signed with the Blue Jays on a six-year, $ 150 million contract. They were also in talks with Red Sox free agent Jackie Bradley Jr.

A good glove that has fought offensively in the last two seasons, Almora aims to serve as a straight alternative to Brandon Nimmo. In 28 games in the shortened 2020 season, Almora had a .167 / .265 / .200 slash line in just 34 appearances on the board. In 2019, Almora dropped .236 / .271 / .381 with 12 home rounds and 32 RBIs in 363 plate appearances.
