The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) has assured that the situation of 30 medical students in Cuba is being resolved, for which the maintenance contract they benefited from has expired.

In a press release, he reported that Minister Mescyt, Franklin García Fermín, had ordered that the maintenance benefits be extended so that he could continue his studies.

In this regard, the Director General of the International Scholarships Directorate, Roger Thomas Mora, stated that Mescyt is in the process of implementing the measure, for which he has been in contact with students to speed up the procedures to be followed in this regard. respect.

He explained that the current situation of the students is due to the fact that they were forced to return to the country as a result of the attacks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide and the restrictions imposed by the affected countries.

The official assured that the students will receive the aid as soon as the process of ratification of the documents containing the contract extension is completed, with the Cuban universities and hospitals where they study.

He said that Minister García Fermín would be attentive to any situation of Dominican scholarship students or those receiving maintenance, in order to look for an immediate solution.

Mora attributes the origin of some scholarship situations due to the disturbances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused many to have to return to the country and resume their study programs.

He did not specify the amount of the contribution for the maintenance of these professionals.
