Being a movie buff, Walter Chiapponi entrusted the Italian Lombard Lorenzo Zurzolo from Netflix baby fame will play in the video of the Tod’s Fall collection, presented digitally today. The young actor was also oriented towards the lookbook, which was shot at Villa Ronchi, designed in the 1930s by Italian architect Giuseppe De Finetti, located in the crazy and quiet landscape of the northern Lombardy region of Italy.
In the short film, entitled #sevenT (“Seven as the days of the week, T for Tod’s but also for Time”, Chiapponi explained), the actor retreats to the solitude of the villa to prepare a role. “Movies are one of my biggest passions,” Chiapponi said. “I wanted a strong and confident personality to express what I wanted to say. And it seemed appropriate for the moment when we live to work around the idea of loneliness – but meant as an opportunity for introspection and self-discovery. ”
The designer believes in the restorative beauty of nature and in a cultivated lifestyle that embraces its healing power – concepts that have served as a kind of backbone for the collection. Featuring classic outdoor pieces, it was infused with the flair of a rustic gentleman for practicality and comfort. Sensuality and a note of romance were also introduced; Chiapponi played on tactile, supple, smooth fabrications – cashmere, tweed, velvet, velvet, knitted textures. The lightly lined hunting and field jackets were kept thin but relaxed. Tailoring retained a classic appeal while being easily treated casually. Everything was subtly energized by a youthful atmosphere from the ’70s.
What Chiapponi brings to Tod is a compelling refreshment of Italian casual tropes, seen through a cultivated, slightly emotional modern filter: “I don’t like anything too designed, too cold or too sharp,” he said. “I want something spiritual, a little eccentricand free. ”
