Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their second child.
“We can confirm that Archie will be an older brother,” a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said on Sunday. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are happy to have their second child.”
The couple’s son, Archie, turns 2 in May.
Announcing the news of the pregnancy, 39-year-old Markle and 36-year-old Harry shared an intimate, black-and-white photo showing Markle tying her baby. On page six it is said that the photo was taken remotely by the couple’s longtime friend and photographer Misan Harriman.
The news comes months after Markle spoke of “her almost unbearable pain” after having a miscarriage in July.
The new arrival will be the first baby of British royal origin to be born in the US after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned as senior kings earlier this year.
After leaving their roles, they moved into a $ 14 million house in Montecito, California, where the neighbors are Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.
Rumors of Markle’s pregnancy began to circulate late last year, as his legal team called for the postponement of his confidentiality case against Britain’s Mail on Sunday for nine months for “confidential” reasons.
The former “Suits” actress then appeared to show a shot in the photos published on page six at the end of December, while coming out of the package and in a heavy sweater.
Markle was praised for her brutally honest essay on pregnancy loss in the New York Times last year.
She wrote, “I knew, as I was squeezing my first baby, that I was losing my second,” describing how she watched “my husband’s heart break as he tried to hold my broken pieces.”
Harry has already said he only wants two children, after talking about his environmental concerns and the “terrifying” effects of global warming in his wife’s British Vogue edition.
As they pledged to be financially independent, the Sussex signed multi-million dollar agreements with Netflix and Spotify, following in Obama’s footsteps. Their holiday podcast is expected to air soon.
Markle is also investing – and is an angel investor in the women’s-owned Clevr coffee brand, which Winfrey has promoted to 19 million Instagram followers.
