Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, files official complaint with British broadcaster over Piers Morgan’s comments

ITV announced on Tuesday that Morgan would leave the show she hosted, “Good Morning Britain,” after questioning whether Meghan had suicidal thoughts, a major revelation in her successful interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“Following talks with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided it is time to leave Good Morning Britain,” ITV said on Tuesday. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing to add.”

CNN understands that Meghan’s complaint to ITV was about the impact that Morgan’s comments could have on others and how it could degrade the severity of mental health problems. The complaint did not address the personal nature of Morgan’s attacks.
Piers Morgan was thrown by co-host Meghan:

In Monday’s issue of “Good Morning Britain,” Morgan wondered if the duchess was sincere about her suicidal thoughts. His comments sparked a huge controversy in the UK and he was reprimanded by the mental health charity Mind.

The British regulator Ofcom said it had received more than 41,000 complaints about Monday’s Good Morning Britain and launched an investigation under “its rules on injury and crime”.

On Wednesday, Morgan said he “still” doesn’t believe Meghan.

“I have had time to reflect on this opinion and I still do not have it [believe her]”Morgan wrote in the tweet.” If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill on which I am happy to die. Thank you for all the love and hate. I went to spend more time with my opinions. “
