MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The first baby in the Twin Cities in 2021 was born not long after the clock struck midnight.
M Health Fairview St. John’s of Maplewood met John Robert Hennessey at 12:27 am. He weighs 6 pounds, 11 ounces.

“He looks like a relaxed, relaxed little kid,” said his mother, Melissa Hennessey. “We are delighted to have a small sleeper to bring home to our family. I think we are all looking forward to the new year with a sense of peace and calm and so far little John has definitely presented that calming presence for us! “
Melissa and her husband Chris Hennessey chose to name their son John after Melissa’s great-grandfather John J. McDonough. He was former mayor of St. Paul.

John Hennessey is the fifth child of Melissa and Chris. He was born about three weeks before the due date, after a 35-hour labor.
