Kylian Mbappé and Neymar devalue millions of euros due to economic crisis caused by COVID-19 pandemic
Even finding alternatives and resuming their competitions in the so-called “new normal”, the football world continues to suffer the effects of the serious economic crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the houses badly affected, the sports market has reinvented itself in search of solutions. However, some points do not conform to the previous model coronavirus.
According to the “Football Benchmark” report published by the Dutch audit and consulting firm KPMG, footballers’ market values are on average 10.6% lower than a year ago, when the virus had not yet reached pandemic levels.
Neymar, who still claims to be the most expensive signing in world football, “Suffered” a devaluation of 10 million euros and now appears in fourth place in today’s ranking of the most expensive players with an estimated value of 115 million euros, according to the report.
The top 10 leader is still Kylian Mbappé, which even with a a devaluation of 15 million euros being the largest decrease of all the players presented in the ranking, continues with an estimated market value of 185 million euros.
Harry Kane was the one who climbed the ladder in the rankings. With 21 goals and 14 assists this season with Tottenham, the striker came in second on the list with a rating of around 125 million euros.
