The crossover returns after 2 decades
The first fighting game in the epic clash of Capcom and SNK has remained largely unplayed and obscure due to its platform of choice, but now everyone will have the chance to see how things started.
SNK announced tonight that SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium will be released on the Nintendo Switch on February 17 worldwide.
The latest member of NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection comes to wrap 26 fighters divided between the iconic lists of both companies.
Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown and The Last Blade form the members of SNK plus Athena while Capcom shoots the world warriors of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers.
While it was in development at the same time as the first Capcom Vs. SNK, Match of the Millennium is quite different, considering that it is built on the King of Fighters R series on NeoGeo Pocket Color.
This means, of course, that the game uses more chibi and less detailed sprites than their arcade contemporaries, but it is full of charm and character without sacrificing tight commands.
The dream collaboration title SNK and CAPCOM that can fit in your hands comes on Nintendo Switch!

Although SNK did not directly say the opposite, SNK vs. Capcom will probably not come with any online functionality, like the other titles in the collection, but local multiplayer is available.
It’s quite interesting to see the SNK and Capcom logos side by side in a “current” version of the game, although there’s little reason to hope for anything more on this front right now – if it doesn’t intend to launch SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters titles.
Many fans of fighting games would probably be even more excited for one of the arcade / console versions of modern hardware, but the last re-release we saw in this special versus version came from the other side of the aisle with Capcom Vs. SNK 2 on PlayStation 3 as PS2 Classic.
Match of the Millennium is the sixth game in the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection, with previous releases being SNK Gals’ Fighters, Samurai Shodown! 2, King of Fighters R-2, The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny and Fatal Fury First Contact.
All other NeoGeo Pocket Color re-releases are priced at $ 7.99 on the Nintendo eShop, but SNK has not yet revealed a price for this fighting game history.
