Maryland Resident Wins $ 730 Million Powerball Pot

The ticket that matched all six numbers in Wednesday’s Powerball draw was sold in the state of Maryland yesterday.

The prize, the fourth highest in the game’s history, was $ 731.1 million at the time of the draw with a cash option of $ 546.8 million for whoever matched the numbers.

The winning cardholder has a choice between an estimated annuity of $ 731,100, paid in 30 incremental payments over 29 years, or a one-time cash payment of $ 546.8 million. Both grant options are pre-tax.

The winning numbers in the Wednesday January 20 draw were White Balls 40, 53, 60, 68, 69, plus Powerball 22 and Power Play 3X multiplier.

Participating lotteries reminded players to check their entries for one of nine ways to win. In Wednesday’s drawing alone, more than 4.4 million plays won prizes ranging from $ 4 to $ 2 million.

About 12 tickets matched the five white balls, but missed the red Powerball in Wednesday’s drawing to win a prize of $ 1 million.

The million dollar winning pieces were sold in California (2), Georgia (2), Illinois (2), Maine, Michigan, New Jersey (3) and Oregon. Another ticket, sold in Maryland, matched the five white balls and doubled the price to $ 2 million, as the ticket included the Power Play option for another $ 1.

Wednesday’s draw was the 36th in the race for the fourth highest jackpot since it began on September 19, 2020. The jackpot win in Maryland ended what was the longest jackpot in Powerball history.

For the next draw on Saturday, January 23, the Powerball jackpot will reset to $ 20 million ($ 15 million cash value). The 10X multiplier is up for grabs as part of the Power Play option as the advertised jackpot is less than $ 150 million.
