Former co-stars of the late Saved By The Bell actor Dustin Diamond remember the actor after his untimely death, including series leader Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
Currently starring in both ABC’s “Mixed-ish” and Peacock’s “Saved By The Bell,” 46-year-old Gosselaar appeared at Tamron Hall on Tuesday for to share his thoughts on Dustin’s sudden passing at the age of 44, telling Hall: I think it’s even more so when the individual is someone you know and Dustin’s age. It was only a few weeks ago that I found out about his diagnosis and it is very shocking that it happened so quickly ”.
Dustin’s team confirmed his cancer diagnosis in mid-January and immediately began chemotherapy for stage 4 small cell carcinoma that metastasized to his lungs.
“The rest of me and I will get together at some point and express our feelings, but yes, it happened so fast that we’re all pretty shocked about it,” Gosselaar added.
Saved for Diamond, all the main members of the “SBTB” cast returned for Peacock’s restart in 2021. Gosselaar went on to explain how, over time, the group simply broke away over the years.
“It’s interesting. A lot of people may not understand that you can work with someone for years – you can be very close, you see that person every day for an entire filming season and then, once things are over, the camera stops, you walk away, “he said.” There’s no other reason than just things happening in life, and before you know it, it’s been years and I think that’s what happened to Dustin with the rest of the cast. “
Co-stars Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley all shared their tributes to Diamond.
