The Detroit Lions continue to add former NFL players to their coaching staff. Mark Brunell, the long-time NFL defender, will be hired as the team’s new QB coach, according to several reports.
Brunell interviewed the Lions this week and expects his employment to be completed quickly. He currently works as a radio host in Jacksonville, where he spent the highest points of his long playing career.
Brunell has coaching experience, but only at the high school level. He played 17 years in the NFL, starting with the Green Bay Packers as a draft pick in the fifth round in 1993 in Washington. He played for the Packers, Jaguars, Jets, Washington and Saints, where Brunell ended his career as a teammate of new Lions head coach Dan Campbell. On the left, Brunell was one of the best double-threatened QBs of his time.
