“Bell-saved” stars Mario Lopez and Tiffani Thiessen have shown their support for co-star Dustin Diamond as he fights cancer.
Lopez, 47, said on Instagram that he reached Diamond, 44, after learning of his diagnosis on Thursday.
“I connected with Dustin earlier tonight, and while the news of his diagnosis is heartbreaking, we’re sure he’ll get over it,” Lopez captioned two photos of the co-stars – one from their hit series and one from -an interview from 2016.
“We pray for him and his family and for a speedy recovery. God bless.”
Meanwhile, Thiessen, 46, posted a photo of Diamond on her Instagram story and wrote, “Thinking of you, Dustin.”
The talk of a rift between Diamond and the “Saved by the Bell” cast has been circulating for years. Diamond’s 2009 book did not paint his colleagues in a positive light, and he later missed a popular 2015 reunion on “The Tonight Show,” as well as the show’s recent reboot of Peacock.
In 2019, the show’s star Mark-Paul Gosselaar admitted that he had not spoken to Diamond for 25 years.
Diamond’s team confirmed his cancer diagnosis a few days after he was hospitalized for widespread pain and discomfort. His family has a history of cancer, including his mother, who died of breast cancer.
Dustin’s team did not disclose what type of cancer the star has, although a TMZ report states that it is stage 4 and that Diamond is undergoing chemo.
