The political committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) revealed on Sunday the seven members of the aforementioned organization, who presented their intentions to run as candidates for the presidency of the Republic.
They are Gonzalo Castillo, Abel Martínez, Margarita Cedeño, Maritza Hernández, Francisco Domínguez Brito, Andrés Navarro and Carlos Amarante Baret.
However, PLD general secretary Charlie Mariotti explained that they are simply “aspiring presidential candidates” because the party’s statute stipulates that candidates must be approved through the Central Committee.
This information was shared at the end of the political committee meeting, which lasted more than six hours.
Regarding possible presidential candidacies, Mariotti said it was only “briefly” addressed.
He also assured that the above list is not complete, as other people could be added or even subtracted.
“Not everyone is and not everyone is,” he said.
