March Madness 2021 – The best moments and greatest pieces of the NCAA tournament

The madness of March was a story of upset in 2021. We are in the second day of optimism and it is assumed that who will fall today.

On Sunday, the stories of Cinderella, both of Loyola Chicago and of Oral Roberts, were seen. The 8-seed Ramblers defeated Illinois in a 71-58 victory, which saw Sister Jean’s prayers for Illini to pull below 30% of the 3-point line.

Oral Roberts, of the fifteenth ranking, started the tournament by upsetting the state of Ohio and, on Sunday, won 81-78 in front of Florida with 7 seeds. Oral Roberts won their games with six combined points, and the Golden Eagles will face Arkansas with 3 seeds in their first Sweet 16 in 1974.

These were not the only upsets that happened on Sunday. No. 11, Syracuse, looked like some of Jim Boeheim’s best teams in which he defeated 3 seeds in West Virginia and 12 seeds, Oregon, after defeating an orange team in Tennessee with 5 seeds, -again it again against the state of Oklahoma with 4 seeds.

Goodbye to Drew Timme’s mustache?

Number 1, Gonzaga, got a great performance from striker Drew Timme, who won second place in Oklahoma with 8 seeds. Timme dropped 30 points, made 13 rebounds and added 4 assists for a good measure. After the game, he was informed that his mother said he had to shave his mustache if the Bulldogs won – which was good news for him, as it turns out.

Emotional farewell to Luka Garza

Iowa, ranked second, was eliminated by Oregon on Monday with 7 seeds, but it was not due to the lack of effort of Luka Garza. Hawkeyes center scored 36 of his team’s 80 points and added nine rebounds for a good measure. After the game, the senior reflected in an emotional press conference about his last game representing Iowa.

Iowa senior Luka Garza gets excited as he leaves the game for the last time as Hawkeye.

Something that was more impressive on Garza’s line? Oregon earned him those points – the Ducks challenged 16 of his 20 shots.

The slipper – umm, basketball shoe – does not fit

Remember when Zion Williamson cut his shoe so hard, because he broke up in a 2019 Duke-North Carolina game? Well, something similar happened to Ben Vander Plas of Ohio in the second round.

The 8-meter junior stepped on his sole and needed a new pair of shoes in the middle of the Bobcats match against the fifth-grade Creighton.

Geaux Joe

Joe Burrow led the LSU football team to the 2019 national championship. He did not finish cheering his school, taking a place to watch as the Eighth Grade Tigers try to beat Michigan’s top.
