With the advent of COVID-19 variants across the country, mixed with a slow release of vaccines, health experts say masking is more important than ever.
“The most important thing is that everyone should wear a mask,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of NIAID.
And not just one, but two, according to some experts. Members of President Biden’s cabinet agree.
“It just makes sense that it would probably be more efficient,” Fauci said.
The CDC does not explicitly recommend double masking, nor does it say the same for an N-95, although the CDC and the World Health Organization recommend multi-layered cloth masks.
“I am not a doctor. I do not want to tell anyone who has difficulty breathing that because they are at high risk for a lung condition, they need to double. the ability to breathe, “said Allentown Health Bureau Director Vicky Kistler.
The Allentown Health Office is following the CDC’s current guidelines until further notice. Kistler says it’s pretty hard to try to get people to wear a single mask, let alone double it.
“What we’re telling people is that if you have a two-layer cloth mask with a good seal, you should be protected,” Kistler said.
If you are one of the lucky few who have been vaccinated, you will not be disappointed. Experts say that as long as the community is immunized and the spread of the community is kept to a minimum, you should still wear one or two, if you wish.
