Democrats created the disturbing video documenting the Jan. 6 siege by intertwining Trump’s speech to a group of supporters calling for them to march to the Capitol, with violent footage of the attack.

“We’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue … and we’re going to go to the Capitol and we’re going to try to give our Republicans, the weak … we’re going to try to give them the kind of pride and courage they need to take back our country,” Trump says in the video.

The video then follows the crowd along Pennsylvania Avenue and into the building where lawmakers had gathered to certify the Electoral College’s vote count.

The video shows new footage of the pro-Trump gang shouting “take the Capitol,” engaging in violent confrontations with police officers and damaging the building while flooding the corridors to disrupt the vote.

Text at the end of the video reads: “At least seven people were killed, more than 140 law enforcement officers were physically injured, and many more were seriously affected by their experiences that day.”

The video then shows the text of a tweet Trump sent out four hours later:

“These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously and viciously disposed of great patriots who have been treated so badly and unfairly for so long. Go home with love and in peace. Remember this day forever! ”

Raskin opened the impeachment trial by stating that failure to convict would result in a “January exception” that exempts all future presidents from unlawful conduct.

Raskin scolded Trump’s lawyers who planned to claim it is illegal to try a former president for impeachment.

“Their argument is that if you commit a violation during your last few weeks, you have constitutional impunity, you get away with it,” Raskin said. “This would create a brand new January exception to the United States of America Constitution … it is an invitation to the President to do his best on anything he would like to do on the way out, including the use of violent means … to block the peaceful transfer of power … it is an invitation to our founder’s worst nightmare. “
