Man who helped a stranded motorist killed by a hit and run driver in Springfield Gardens, Queens

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, Queens (WABC) – A 51-year-old man was killed by a hit and run driver after he stopped to help a stuck driver in Queens.

The incident happened Friday night just after 8 a.m. on the east side of Nassau Highway in Springfield Gardens.

According to police, the victim was sitting next to the 2005 Audi sedan when she was hit.

We are looking for the driver who abandoned his Dodge Caravan and took off on foot.

EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

There are no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD.
