Man found dead in trunk after being kidnapped at a friend’s house in NW Harris County

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a man was found shot dead Saturday afternoon after being kidnapped from his girlfriend’s apartment in northwestern Harris County.

Deputies said the man was attacked in the Copperfield area, placed in his vehicle, and then found dead in his trunk at an apartment complex on Smiling Wood Lane. It is unclear exactly where the man died, as deputies are evaluating at least two crime scenes.

Deputies arrived at the apartment around 9 a.m. on Saturday after a woman said her home had been broken into. They discovered that the woman’s boyfriend had been attacked at home by three unknown men.

The victim and the men got into an argument and then he was taken from the house and placed in his car. Then they left the scene, deputies said.

Delegates later traced the vehicle to Smiling Wood Lane. When delegates opened the trunk, they found a male matching the description of the man in the home invasion. The victim’s car had an anti-theft system.

The family has yet to verify the body, researchers said.

Deputies are treating this incident as murder. They believe that the suspects were waiting for the victim in the girlfriend’s house and that the victim was lured in.

While the girlfriend called the police, it’s unclear if she was involved.

Deputies said there is “obvious trauma” to the body and the victim has been shot an unknown number of times. It is also unclear whether anything was taken from home.

No suspicious information is available at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-521-4600.
