Philadelphia police on Saturday identified a man suspected of kidnapping and kidnapping the family of a pizza delivery driver in Philadelphia on Friday night, captured by dozens of police officers after a quick police chase.
Police identified the man as Marcel Jenkins, 33, of Strawberry Mansion. They say he was behind the wheel of a chasing car that ended shortly before midnight after accidentally driving through Franklin Square, on the border between Center City and Northern Liberties, just a block the headquarters of the city police department.

On Saturday, prosecutors charged Jenkins with three counts of first-degree abduction, two counts of first-class car, aggravated second-degree assault on a police officer, five counts of criminal malice and other related charges. Friday night incidents.
A spokesman for the prosecutor, Larry Krasner, says Jenkins is being held on $ 750,000 bail and will undergo a court-ordered mental health assessment.
The man later identified as Jenkins also ran on Interstate 95 for a while before continuing on the surface streets. At one point, the suspect even entered the parking lot of the police headquarters, made donuts and gave the officers his middle finger, DeBlasis said.

While officers were still searching for the car after the abduction, they received a phone call about an accident at the intersection of 21 and Spring Garden streets, DeBlasis said. It appears that the suspect withdrew a woman before getting out of the first car, threatening to shoot the woman and then take off in her car, the captain said.
Officers quickly located a second vehicle that the suspect allegedly stole and then began the pursuit.
He passed through the Old Town, sometimes heading in the opposite direction of one-way streets and for a short time on Highway 95. At one point, two police vehicles collided with each other as they were pursuing, he said. DeBlasis.
The pursuit finally ended in Franklin Square, near the police headquarters, where the man entered the snow before the officers got out of their cars, crowded him and dragged him outside.
Despite the chaos, no one was injured, DeBlasis said.
