Man arrested in random cinder block attack on Cuomo staffer

Police arrested a man in connection with the random Christmas Eve cinder block attack on a member of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s staff in Midtown Manhattan, police sources told The Post Friday.

28-year-old Christopher Guzman was charged with second-degree assault for allegedly assaulting 51-year-old Lisa Cavanaugh, the sources said.

Cavanaugh had just left work at Cuomo’s Midtown office and was passing a construction site on Third Avenue near East 48th Street at around 2:15 p.m. when Guzman allegedly snuck behind her and hit her with a concrete block in the back of her head. to the NYPD.

Cavanaugh was temporarily knocked unconscious and suffered a two-centimeter-deep crack in her head.

She underwent a CAT scan at Bellevue Hospital, where she is expected to survive the attack, the sources said.

The terrifying daytime assault occurred just six blocks from the governor’s office on Third Avenue.

Cavanaugh works as a recruiting and appointments officer in the executive chamber.
