Magic Touch ID keyboard available only with iMacs, but compatible with all M1 Macs

As Apple has done in the past with updated Magic keyboards, the new version with Touch ID is only available with the new iMac – at least for now. But the new useful keyboard with built-in biometrics will work with any Mac M1.

Along with the huge redesign of the iMac, Apple has unveiled a new Magic keyboard with Touch ID. It comes in two versions, extended with a numpad and a compact model without.

I noticed earlier that Apple did not list the new Touch ID keyboards for sale on its own. Not surprisingly, it did the same thing when the Mac Pro and iMac Pro were released.

For the space-colored Magic accessories originally launched with the iMac Pro, it took about three months for Apple to offer them as standalone products.

But now we have more details about compatibility Rene Ritchie shared that the Magic Touch ID keyboard will work with any Mac M1.

We’ll have to wait and see when Apple could make the new magic keyboard available to everyone, but in the meantime we could see some pop-ups on eBay, etc. when the first M1 iMacs reach customers.

When the Magic keyboard, mouse and space gray trackpad first appeared and just came with the iMac Pro, some scalpers listed them for up to $ 2,500.
