I won't lie friends: this is a top crossover art that I never thought I would do.

The venerable series of card games Wizards of the Coast had some great crossovers over the years. But things will get weirder and more wonderful as his latest crossover expands into a real Magic multiverse that would even do the most experienced planeswalkerhead rotation: Lord of the Rings and Warhammer 40,000.

Polygon reports today that during a Hasbro investor call, Wizards of the Coast announced a new line of Magic called collaborations Universe beyond. As the name suggests, the new set of cards will host collaborations with other licenses beyond those created by wizards.

Tthe first two new additions to this line are as wild as you might expect: Wizards is formally partnering with Middle-Earth Enterprises and Games Workshop to bring the worlds of Lord of the Rings and Warhammer 40,000 (would you think it would work for Sigmar’s time instead, but maybe one day?) at the card game. No other details have been revealed yet about things we really want to know, such as how many lands we need to touch to play. Baharroth, The cry of the wind, or if Gandalf gets sick when you bring him back as Gandalf the White.

But suffice it to say that we are delighted. We will bring you more Magic: The Gathering – Universes Beyond as and when we learn it.

Update: In the a new blog post PARTICULAR The Beyond Universes, Wizards of the Coast clarified that the new line will be distinct from its standard book versions, with a special foil badge denoting collaboration books. The launches will cover more Magic formats, including a Warhammer 40,000 Commander Deck and is not strictly limited to “Secret Lair”, as recent collaborations zombies.

Moreover, they noticed that Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, upcoming Dungeons and Dragons set, in fact will not be considered part of the line, and branding will be used only for Magic collaborations with licenses outside the Wizards of the Coast properties – I updated the language from the previous version of this post to reflect those clarifications.
