Madden NFL 21 unveils new “Reef-Top” crossover content for SpongeBob

Electronic Arts has unveiled new content for SpongeBob SquarePants Madden NFL 21. In The Yard, players will be able to check out the new SpongeBob Reef-Top location, which features lots of images of the character, as well as the Nickelodeon brand. Players can see Krusty Krab nearby, while a floating SpongeBob and Nickelodeon balloon can be found in the air. Completing the challenges on location will allow players to unlock exclusive series-based equipment as well as new game modes. The timing of the event seems to coincide with this weekend’s NFL Wild Card game that will air simultaneously on CBS and Nickelodeon.

SpongeBob’s content will include three new modes in total: Flying Dutchman’s Ghostly Grab, Sandy’s Rocket Arm Rally and The Goo Lagoon Bowl. In The Flying Dutchman’s Ghostly Grab, players will be able to jump higher, making impressive catches. Long touchdowns also lead to bonus points. In Sandy Rocket Arm Rally, players will be able to throw passes of 80 meters and more. Last but not least, Goo Lagoon Bowl has players moving in slow motion.

While the partnership between SpongeBob and Madden certainly seems unusual, the crossover content also seems quite interesting! All the images in the trailer really appear on the screen, with colors that are quite bright than the ones that Madden fans are used to seeing. It’s impossible to tell what kind of cross-appeal there might be for the character’s fans and Madden, but for those who love both of them, this content should definitely be a little fun! Madden NFL 21 Fans who aren’t interested in this content can always check out the latest title update, released in the game earlier today.
