Mac Jones is QB1, according to the former NFL coach

The 2021 NFL draft class is loaded with defensive talents, ranging from a variety of systems, playing styles and abilities.

For some time, it was unanimously agreed that Clemson’s former defender, Trevor Lawrence, will be the general choice no. 1, this year belonging to Jacksonville.

Other names such as BYU’s Zach Wilson, NDSU’s Trey Lance, Ohio’s Justin Fields and Alabama’s Mac Jones are expected to be named in the first round, after Lawrence.

Defending defenders after Lawrence is a hotly debated topic. Some claim that Fields will be the second defender eliminated, while others believe that Wilson is the real “QB2”.

Former NFL coach for the Chargers and Falcons, June Jones, has a unique approach. He is not looking to discuss who is the second best in the draft class.

He believes the best available defender in the 2021 NFL project is former Crimson Tide Heisman finalist Mac Jones.

“Mac’s deep ball accuracy is probably the best I’ve evaluated in my years as a head coach,” said June Jones. “It has almost 55% at over 20 meters, which is incredible.”

Jones also received high praise for his ability to read his options.

“(Mac Jones) is a receiver observer,” June Jones said. “I could watch him on TV when they had the right camera angle. And I really think it’s huge for him. This is how he throws the ball deep. ”

Jones is currently expected to be a mid-to-late round pick in the first round.

Roll Tide Wire will release any updates on the status of Mac Jones’ rankings that led to the 2021 NFL project.
