After announcing the new M1 iMac today at the Spring Loaded event, Apple shared all the fine details for the completely redesigned all-in-one Mac. Let’s look at what you’re missing with the $ 1,299 base model, storage and RAM options, I / O, the new Magic Touch ID keyboard, and more.
The 24-inch M1 iMac comes in three standard configurations with custom configurations also available to increase storage and RAM. In particular, the base iMac 2021 misses a few different features and benefits of the mid and high-end version. And even with the new M1 iMacs available for order in late April, Apple is still selling the old 27-inch Intel version.
Base M1 iMac
The M1 iMac entry runs $ 1,299 and comes with an 8-core processor and a 7-core GPU. It offers 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD storage.
However, you won’t get the Ethernet port built into the power brick that comes with mid- and high-end M1 iMacs (or you’ll have to pay for the upgrade). You also get only two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports and a standard Magic keyboard (Touch ID costs extra).
It is available in four colors (instead of seven): blue, green, pink and silver. And storage options for custom versions create up to 1 TB and RAM up to 16 GB.
Mid, high-end and customized M1 iMacs
The most expensive M1 iMacs start at $ 1,499 and up. You have an 8-core processor and an 8-core GPU, storage options up to 2 TB and RAM up to 16 GB.
The power adapter comes with a built-in Gigabit Ethernet port and there are two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports on the back and two USB 3 ports. They are also available as standard with the new Magic Touch ID keyboard.
Another advantage of the more expensive models are seven color choices: blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and purple.
VESA option and more
All M1 iMac models have the new super-slim design, 24-inch 4.5K display, M1 chip, new magnetic power cable, Wi-Fi 6, Thunderbolt 4 support, 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, Dolby Atmos support and much more.
There is also the option to buy the new iMac 2021 with VESA support. The price is the same to opt for support instead of support.
Interestingly, Apple has not yet listed the new Magic Touch ID keyboards for sale.
The M1 iMac will be available for order starting April 30, and delivery will begin in the “second half of May.”
