This Sunday, at the age of 53, the former footballer and coach of Antioquia, Luis Guillermo, “Professor” Berrío, died of a sudden heart attack.
According to the Diario del Huila, after playing a football match with his friends in Cali, Berrío felt severe chest pain, which became a heart attack that took his life.
As a footballer, the Amagá-born man has served as a midfielder in America, Envigado, Huila, Pereira, Tolima, Quindío and other football teams in Venezuela and Peru. He was noted for his excellent ball hitting technique.
As a coach, he directed Atlético Huila, Deportivo Independiente Medellín, Alianza Petrolera and Deportivo Pasto.
