Luis Cruz, Honduras World Cup player, dies of COVID with one month in hospital

Mourning in Honduran football because this January 27 deceased is one of his World Cup players Luis Cruz, who played in the 1982 World Cup and lost his life at the age of 68 due to coronavirus at a San Pedro Sula hospital, said his former teammate, Jaime Villegas.

Cruz was a left back for Motagua and Real España, he played as 1-1 draw against Northern Ireland in Spain 82 and it was intern for a month in a public hospital.

With Cruz’s death, they are five deceased who formed in that World Cup team almost 40 years ago it surprised equal to Spain 1-1 at the opening date and the 1-0 decrease in a last minute penalty goal against Yugoslavia in a match that would have Italy as champion.

The right side Droumont Sunday, the steering wheel Javier Toledo and attackers Roberto Bailey Yes Roberto “Macho” Figueroa, are the other four former footballers of that team already deceased.
