Cuban singer Olga Lucía Lago Muela, Lucía Lago, died on Monday in Havana, at the age of 95, as revealed by those close to the exceptional artist.
Lucía, a member of the Hermanas Lago Trio, had an intense musical activity, because in 1947 she joined the one known as the first female harmonic trio in Cuba and America, in which she stood out with her sisters Cristina and Graciela.
Defenders at all costs of the song and the most indigenous genres of Cuban music, The Sisters Lake not only made a vast repertoire recorded in the West Indies discography, but also accompanied remarkable performers such as Bola de Nieve, Jorge Negrete, Alfredo Sadel and Rosita Fornés.
The most famous theaters and cabarets, stellar programs on Cuban television and daily shows on CMQ and COCO, made Lucía and her sisters a landmark of good taste, discipline and consecration.
Lucía Lago was recognized with distinctions of national culture, Raúl Gómez García, August 23 and Adolfo Guzmán; in addition to other radio and television awards.
Shortly before he died, the last of the band’s survivors collaborated on a documentary about the lake’s sisters, which will soon be released.
