Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr. allegedly left a Georgia hospital on Tuesday “out of fear,” despite being so sick with COVID-19 that he “couldn’t even stand it.”

The hospital staff “asked” the 84-year-old actor to stay there, but after a few days he was “scared by the wave of deaths” in his ward, according to TMZ.

“Please wear masks, distance yourself socially, isolate yourself, pray and listen inside. We can’t survive without each other, “Louis told reporters.

Gossett Jr. is now recovering at home with his son, but family and friends are urging fans to send “personal messages of healing and love” via the hashtag #LoveLettertToLou.

The Brooklyn-born star has two sons – Satie, 46; and Sharron, 43 – from his marriages to ex-wife # 2 Christina Mangosing and ex-wife # 3 Cyndi James Gossett.

Louis successfully battled prostate cancer in 2010 because he caught it in the early stages.

The coronavirus pandemic is growing nationally, with 633,000 confirmed cases reported in Georgia (19.9 million in the US) leading to 10,503 deaths since Thursday.

Gossett Jr. won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Sergeant Emil Foley in An Officer and a Gentleman with Richard Gere in 1982.

The Broadway thespian is also known for his Emmy-winning portrayal of Fiddler in the 1977 ABC Roots television miniseries.

Louis also won a Golden Globe supporting actor for his role as Army Officer Sidney Williams in the 1991 HBO biography The Josephine Baker Story.

This year, Gossett Jr. got another Emmy nod for his role as Will Reeves / Hooded Justice in the limited nine-episode HBO Watchmen series with Queen King.
