Lots of careers for San Francisco

Career highs were a theme for the 49ers in their Week 16 victory over the Cardinals. A lot of players had the best results in a single game or set new career highs during the 20-12 victory in San Francisco.

Back, Jeff Wilson Jr. led a strong day for the 49ers rushing attack. He had 22 difficult attempts for a career 183 meters high. His best precedent was his 112-yard performance against the Patriots in Week 7.

Defender CJ Beathard was not prolific in the air against the Cardinals. He completed 13 of his 22 throws for 182 yards, but managed to get the best three touchdown passes of his career. He had previously thrown four touchdowns four times. It was the first time he threw for multiple touchdowns in a game without interception.

Two of the San Francisco touchdowns came through defender Kyle Juszczyk. His pair of touchdown receptions marked the first time in his eight-year career when he had a multi-touchdown game. Juszczyk also set a career high for touchdowns in a season with six, which eclipses his previous high of five in 2015.

Defender Fred Warner also had a great game, including a huge split of the step down in the fourth quarter to eliminate an attempt to return the Cardinals. Warner has completed credit for three separations. This eliminates his previous maximum of two, which he did once in each of his first two seasons.

San Francisco had three sacks as a team and each marked a new career for the player who registered it. Kerry Hyder Jr. had one to give him 8.5 for the season. This exceeds the 8.0 he posted in the 2016 season.

K’Waun Williams came out of the corner to knock down QB Cardinals Kyler Murray. It was his second sack of the season, and 2020 became the first time Williams had more than one sack in a year.

Defensive approach DJ Jones flew through the Cardinals’ offensive line for the third sack of the year. This eliminates the maximum of 2.0 that he set a season ago.

Although it was a disappointing year for the 49-year-olds, some of the club’s individual performances provided silver linings and helped them stay competitive in a year when they didn’t do well.
