Lost WiiWare Space Invaders titles may change if there is enough demand

We enjoy Space invaders are equal when it launched in 2008 for WiiWare, giving it 8/10 stars. One of Space Invaders’ more curious spinoffs, offered a reversal of the role that saw us playing the invaders, destroying cities from a UFO. Unfortunately, there is currently no official method of playing it since the Wii Shop channel closed, making it one of the many digital-only games now lost forever.

Talking about Wccftech about Space Invaders ForeverYuichi Toyama, Taito’s game director, was asked about a possible relaunch, answering:

Space Invaders Get Even was an exclusive title for WiiWare, in which the player took on the role of the much offended invaders and took revenge on humanity. This is another game that we have considered and if we see enough demand, we would like to be able to launch it. The biggest problem with Get Even is the control method: the game was designed to be played on the Wii Remote, so we need to find a solution to provide a pleasant gaming experience. What do you think is the best way to go about it? We may be able to reproduce the commands by making good use of the touch screen functionality of the Nintendo Switch.

Speaking further on this topic, Toyama also discusses a hypothetical idea that could revise Get Even’s formula. Suggesting a game in which “55 players gather in formation” to invade Earth, it sounds like an equivalent of Battle Royale, although he clarified that there are no real plans to launch such a game.

Considering Joy-Cons can be used similarly to Wii remotes – as demonstrated Super Mario Galaxy in the 3D All-Stars – does not seem to be difficult to overcome. It’s nice to know that Get Even has not been forgotten, but as an obscure WiiWare game, the discovery that the application is another story.
