Los Angeles Dodgers exchange LHP Adam Kolarek, OF Cody Thomas at Oakland A’s for IF Sheldon Neuse, RHP Gus Varland

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers bought defender Sheldon Neuse and right-hander Gland Varland from the minor league at Oakland Athletics on Friday for left-hander Adam Kolarek and minor league player Cody Thomas.

Neuse spent last season on the Oakland alternative site after hitting .250 the previous year for A. Prior to his promotion in 2019, the 26-year-old fieldman hit .317, hit 27 home runs and had 102 RBIs in 126 games.

Varland is a 2-2 combined with 1.54 ERA and 77 hits in 18 minor league games, including 15 starts.

Kolarek made 20 appearances for the Dodgers last year, going 3-0 with 0.95 ERA and 13 hits. He was 5-0 with a save over 46 games and 0.88 ERA in his Dodgers career. In four major league seasons, he is an 11-3 combined with a 3.32 ERA.

Thomas spent part of last season on the alternative site Dodgers. In 2019, he managed the top 23 careers in his career and had 76 RBIs with Double-A Tulsa. In four seasons in the minor leagues, he has 81 homers and led in 278 runs, averaging 255 beats.
