Lizzo’s mother breaks down in happy tears when the pop star catches her with a new Christmas car

It is one of the advantages of being a very successful pop star.

On Sunday, five days before Santa’s arrival, Lizzo surprised his mother, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, and offered her a new car for Christmas.

“I got my mother a new Audi for Xmas”, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter shared on Instagram with a video of the emotional moment of making gifts that saw her mother shedding a lot of tears of joy for his daughter’s generosity.

The video begins with Johnson-Jefferson being led outside his home with his eyes closed, while several family members seem to be watching in advance.

“Okay, happy Christmas mom – open your eyes,” Lizzo (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) said from behind the room with emotion just as her mother is guided to turn to her left.

With her hands clasped nervously, her mother opened her eyes and began to cry at the sight of her new black Audi, which came complete with a red bow on the front hood.

“I took an Audi girl from you,” rapper Truth Hurts explained as family members clapped and applauded in the background. “This is an Audi; you don’t see the circles [emblem] on him – come on!

With happy tears still flowing, Johnson-Jefferson walked to the car for a closer look and confessed, “You never expect this to happen to you,” which caused an emotional “ahhhhh” from Lizzo.

“I remember crying in my car when my father passed by, without a job, without money to live in, wishing I could one day insure my family,” Lizzo added in the caption.

“I couldn’t do this for my father, so I make sure I ruin Mother. Happy Holidays to all.

Lizzo’s father, Michael Jefferson, passed away in 2010, when he was a student at a music scholarship at the University of Houston. His death plunged her into a deep depression.

“I really gave up,” she confessed in an interview with CBS this morning in January.

– I was depressed. I didn’t have a purpose, as if I didn’t feel like I had a purpose to be a musician or something. So it turned into “Oh, I can sleep on your couch,” and I ended up being guilty. So all I had was this car. It was a Subaru.

She added: “This has been my home for a while. I spent Thanksgiving in that car and I remember crying to sleep.

In a birthday post for her late father in September 2019, Lizzo thanked her for “showing me my strength” and reminding her “not to be afraid of that power.”

“I’m still struggling with fear and anxiety … every day is a struggle … but I know I can give you my fears and you’ll always be there to protect me from above.”

Undoubtedly, Lizzo would have made his father proud of her meteoric rise as a top artist with three Grammy Awards, a Billboard Award, a BET Award, two iHeartRadio Music Awards and two Soul Train Music Awards in 2019.
