Livonian woman accused of trying to steal COVID vaccines while working as a nurse

DETROIT – A Livonian woman has been charged trying to steal COVID vaccines from the TCF Center in Detroit, where she worked as a nurse, officials said.

Saeedeh Elahi, 41, of Livonia, is accused of placing two syringes filled with The modern COVID-19 vaccine and two vaccination books in his pocket while working at the TCF Center on Monday (March 15).

Detroit police were called to the third floor of the building Monday around 1:50 p.m. to investigate the alleged incident.

Another nurse saw Elahi putting the vaccines in her pocket and reported her immediately, according to authorities. Elahi worked for an entrepreneur and had been hired to deliver the vaccine to the Detroiters.

“There is simply no excuse for this alleged conduct,” said Wayne County Attorney Kym Worth. “Last year was extremely stressful for everyone. There is little light at the end of the tunnel due to various vaccines. State and local governments have done their best to get as many vaccines as possible. This case should send a strong and clear message that this conduct is criminal and will be taken seriously. ”

Elahi is charged with a number of thefts in a building. She is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in 36th District Court in Downtown Detroit.
