Although most retailers and restaurants are closed on Christmas Day, some places are open, including those on the following list.
Every year, when I post this list, I hear from readers who are upset that not every business is closed on this holiday. I encourage you to remember that there are reasons why many of these companies are open, including:
* allowing our essential workers to get up on the way to and from work;
* giving people a place to eat a bite of food after a long shift at the hospital or fire department, for example;
* providing a place to buy over-the-counter medications for a sick family member or friend; and
* providing the necessary income to the essential workers who have strived to reach the end, especially this incredibly difficult year (I have heard from several people every year who say that volunteers are offered to work for Christmas because of the premium ).
Stores open for Christmas 2020
Circle K: Most locations are open based on the hours listed at their website.
CVS: Most CVS stores are open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. CVS locations in target stores are not open on Christmas Day, as target stores are closed on December 25th. The schedule of the store and the pharmacy varies depending on the location. Most CVS pharmacies are closed on 25/12/20. To be seen CVS website for specific hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Convenience stores for family rates: Family Fare locations will be open on Christmas Day.
Sheetz: Most Sheetz locations will be open. See their website for locations.
Speedway: Many Speedway locations are open on Christmas Day. See their website for locations.
Walgreens: According to a Walgreens press release, stores will be open regularly on Christmas day. The pharmacy’s schedule varies depending on the location on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. See their website for your location-specific hours

Aromas and flavors of amber in Morrisville: Open for Christmas. Check the website for booking information or remove.
Asian cuisine in Durham: Open the program regularly on Christmas day.
Boston Market: Selected locations in Boston Market are open on Christmas Day. See their website to check if yours will be open.
C&T Wok in Morrisville: They are normally open on Christmas day.
Cleveland Draft House: Clayton is open from 17:00 until 22:00 on Christmas Day. There are no alcohol sales after 21:00. It also offers dining services. See the menu on their website.
Denny’s: Select locations Denny’s are open on Christmas Day, although many close early. The Raleigh location on Wake Forest Rd is open until 15:00 on 25.12.2020. Site times were not updated at the time of posting. I suggest you call your location to see if they will be open.
Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro: Open the program regularly on Christmas day. See details about their website.
TOGETHER: Most IHOP locations are open on Christmas Day and Christmas Eve, but many close early on both days. See their website for the hours for your specific location.
Kababish in Cary: Open from 12 to 18 on Christmas day.
McDonalds: Many McDonald’s locations are open on Christmas Day, although some will have reduced hours. Check it out their website for your location-specific hours
Restaurant Neo-Asia (Neo-China) in Raleigh: Open from 16:30 to 21:00 on Christmas Day.
Neo-China in Durham: Open from 15:30 to 20:30 on Christmas day just to take a seat.
New Chinese Chinese Restaurant in Cary: Open the program regularly on Christmas day.
Cary Orient Garden: Open the program regularly on Christmas day.
Panda Express: The selected locations are open with reduced schedule. See their website for details.

Waffle House: According to a response I received from companies about Christmas, “Waffle House restaurants are traditionally open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (366 this year), including all holidays. However, some of our locations currently operate on a less than 24 hour basis due to the effect of the pandemic on our business.
