Republican falcon Lindsey Graham has loudly complained about President Joe Biden’s commitment to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday night that the president is “preparing the way.” for another September 11th.
The new date set by Biden on Tuesday actually pushes the initial May 1 deadline set for the first time by former President Trump. Graham, a staunch ally of Trump, lobbied the former president privately last year to leave a small residual force in Afghanistan amid peace talks with the Taliban, an argument he reaffirmed on Tuesday night.
“Our military has told President Biden that if you withdraw all our forces, Al Qaeda and ISIS will return screaming, Afghanistan will disintegrate into civil war and we can avoid all this with 3,000-5,000 US forces ensuring that ISIS and Al Qaeda he never comes back to hurt us, “said the South Carolina senator. “It simply came to our notice then.
