Lincoln announces snow emergency, parking ban

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) –

The city of Lincoln has declared a snow emergency for Monday, meaning a number of parking bans will be in place.

From 08:00 on Monday, parking is prohibited on both sides of all emergency snow routes, bus and school routes and other major arteries. You can find a map of these streets here.

And a parking ban on the odd-numbered sides of residential streets (usually the south and west sides) also starts Monday at 8:00 a.m. Parking is allowed on the even sides of residential streets.

The city is asking residents to park on banned streets, even if the street appears to be cleared.

The city is also asking residents to clear sidewalks and crosswalks and open access to hydrants. If you’d like to volunteer to shovel snow for those who can’t do it themselves, you can sign up here or call 402-441-7644.

Snow emergencies have also been declared Monday in numerous other Nebraska cities, including Hastings, Kearney, Syracuse, Yutan, Ralston and Eagle.
