Let’s hear it for “Death Chains,” the best weapon mode in the Outriders

Like any prey shooter, Outriders is based on chance. But you can get around luck by relying on the complex network of speed modes, many of which can significantly change the way your weapons and armor behave. Most are good, but none compare to Death Chains, a second-level weapon mode that – and that’s an easy expression – fuck it all up.

Basically, Death Chains amplify your bullets to inflict additional damage within three seconds. (On a level 24 weapon, it deals 1,564 damage. At level 28, this number jumps to 3,751.) The mode has a cooling time of two seconds, which means you can eliminate additional damage before the last three seconds of bonus damage it ends. .

If you’re lucky enough to find a Death Chains weapon, don’t put it another way. Instead, disassemble the gun immediately – which will add death chains to your compendium of usable modes – so you can use it for everything else. Believe me: you’re lucky to find Death Chains only once. It’s too powerful and versatile to give up the ability to add it to your library of modes.

Death chains work well for sniper rifles and other long-range weapons; even if you miss a blow to the head, you will still end up causing significant damage. If your rifle doesn’t kill an enemy in one blast, Death Chains will probably take it the rest of the way. You can probably imagine how effective it is with SMGs, LMGs, assault rifles and other automatic weapons. Personally, I found it terribly effective with firearms, as each shot aligns with the cooling time of the mode.

Death chains work in almost any situation. When you manage a big crowd, you can shoot everyone at once, hide behind the cover and wait a few seconds for everyone to die. During fights with bosses, eliminate exponential damage. There was a player vs. player mode. player in Outriders, it would be better to bet that Death Chains would be banned (or, given update game history, more likely nerfed).

Unfortunately, Death Chains is not exactly a common way: I only found it with one of my own three characters. And even with this character, Death Chains appeared only once as an organic result of Outriders‘generation of random numbers. To take the rest of my weapons – and make no mistake, it’s on all from the rest of my weapons – I had to change them every time. I will regularly find weapons with, for example, frozen bullets or that Essence Thief mode. (Side note: Why does each gun come with Essence Thief? Enough already!) Death Chains, meanwhile, continues to escape.

You would think that this means that only one of my three characters has death chains, but there is an easy solution. Once you find a weapon equipped with death chains while playing as a single character, disassemble it, then apply it to a bunch of lower level weapons and throw them in the archive. From there, you can visit your stash with any other character, take out one of those weapons and disassemble it. The mode will then be permanently in that character’s library.

This solution works for any way you can find it. Unlike what will make you believe the relentless prey of prey, you need to find a way with just one of your characters, as long as you are willing to enter those extra steps.
