Leaders report 2,376 new cases of COVID-19, 9 deaths

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff updated the community on the local response to COVID-19 in their daily session Monday night.

Nirenberg reported 175,530 total cases of COVID-19 and 2,152 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 2,376 new cases since Monday. Nine new deaths were reported today.

Nirenberg said the total daily cases contained outstanding cases from the state, noting that the balance was essentially a total of two days.

The 7-day moving average of cases is 1,447.

City officials also reported that 1,171 patients are hospitalized, 399 are in the intensive care unit and 244 are on ventilators. There are 13% of staff beds available and 51% of fans available.

Nirenberg said the positivity rate fell for the third week in a row to 11.4% on Monday. Although this is a positive trend, Nirenberg urged residents to make social efforts to distance themselves and wear a mask around others.
