SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Commissioner Bexar Justin Rodriguez updated the community on the local response to COVID-19 in Wednesday night’s daily briefing.
Nirenberg reported a total of 202,981 cases of COVID-19 and 3,073 deaths in total in Bexar County, an increase of 132 new cases as of Wednesday. No new deaths were reported today.
The average running time of 7 days is 160.
City officials also reported that 183 patients are hospitalized, 63 are in the intensive care unit and 37 are on ventilators. There are 12% of staff beds available and 71% of fans available.
Nirenberg said 428,643 people received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 239,595 are fully vaccinated in Bexar County.

The city will give priority to those who are most vulnerable. Anyone aged 80 or over is encouraged to visit Alamodome in the afternoon from Monday to Saturday to be vaccinated without an appointment.
Dr. Anita Kurian, deputy director of Metro Health and Nirenberg say the area needs more vaccines to meet local demand.
