LB Vince Williams signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers again

Vince Williams, the inside defender, signs again with the Pittsburgh Steelers in a one-year agreement, sources for Jeremy Fowler from ESPN said.

They released Williams in March in one of their moves to fall below the salary cap. He then told Fowler that he still has a lot of football and that he wants to provide veteran leadership and play for a team that needs it.

He started 14 games last season, finishing with 70 tackles and three sacks. Its use increased significantly last season, after the departure of Mark Barron, playing 65% of defensive snaps, up from 37% the previous year.

Williams, 31, has been a full-time starter for the Steelers for three of the last four seasons.

A Pittsburgh sixth-round draft pick in 2013 appeared in 121 games with 69 starts and has two interceptions (including a pick-six), 20.5 sacks and 333 solo approaches in eight seasons with franchise.

Williams has indicated that he will consider retiring after this season and has considered training.
