Lake County announces the first vaccinations for people over the age of 65

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Lake County will begin vaccinating people over the age of 65 in two locations starting Wednesday, with plans for more data in the near future.

In this first phase, Lake County will vaccinate the following populations: residents and staff of long-term care units; people aged 65 and over; and medical staff in direct contact with the patient.

Vaccination sites will be at Cooper Memorial Library and Lake Sumter College.

Vaccines are free, but appointments are required. There may be an opportunity for access based on cancellations and scheduling availability.

To register, qualifiers should call 352-742-4830 Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please bring an ID and, if you are a medical worker, a copy of your medical license, badge or current payment.

When: Wednesday, December 30-January. 2 between 9:00 and 16:00, subject to availability

Where: Lake Sumter College 9501 US-441, Leesburg, FL 34788

The vaccine is not expected to be available to the general population, including younger residents or non-border workers, by the end of spring.
