La Jornada – UANL medical students announce strike; I ask to be vaccinated

Monterrey, NL. Students at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León have announced the cessation of activities because they do not have the necessary security to deal with coronavirus.

More than 450 students in the eleventh and twelfth semesters of their medical careers, who collaborate in various pediatric, neurosurgical and emergency activities of the university hospital, have requested vaccination against the disease or the cancellation of their guards due to the danger of being infected.

“We have a great need to stop activities that cannot be considered malicious or outside our vocation.

“We say that this is not because we do not want to continue to serve, but rather because we do not have the resources to continue to serve as we have done so far,” they said in a document.

The students also threatened to hold protests outside the hospital and in front of the Government Palace until they were heard.

According to the students, because the University classifies them as “students in clinical rotation”, they cannot access the anti-vaccine vaccines that the entity has.
