Kyle Rudolph signs Giants’ contract after surgery

Kyle Rudolph, the close veteran acquired by the Giants during his activity and his expensive free time, needs leg surgery, but expects to be ready to play at the beginning of the 2021 season.

While playing for the Vikings last season, 31-year-old Rudolph injured his leg in a Dec. 6 game against the Jaguars. He missed the last four games, entered the free market and, after 10 years with the Vikings, agreed to enter into agreements with the Giants for a two-year contract worth $ 12 million. Four months after the initial injury to his foot, he has not yet fully recovered, which led to a brief agreement to sign the contract, according to the NFL Network. The issue was resolved, The Post confirmed, and Rudolph signed the agreement, with no financial adjustments by the team.

“This is 100% what happened during the season that led me to lose the last four games of the season,” Rudolph said Wednesday after signing his contract. “Everyone expected to heal on their own, and she didn’t. It needs to be fixed. I’m extremely grateful to the Giants’ medical staff … and I’m excited to work it out and get over it.

“I do not expect to miss any football. I am extremely excited when we start playing football to be there with my colleagues. ”

Rudolph will count $ 4.75 million on the salary cap this year. He receives a $ 4.5 million signing bonus.

In 140 games (132 starts) for the Vikings, Rudolph had 453 receptions for 4,488 meters and 48 touchdowns. The 28 receptions he received in 12 games last season was the smallest production since 2014, when he played in just nine games. Rudolph is a strong in-line blocker and the Giants expect him to be a threat in the red zone, allowing Evan Engram to reduce some of his in-line blocking responsibilities to allow him to use his speed outside to create situations of mismatch.
