Kyle Rittenhouse, the Illinois teenager accused of shooting two people dead during protests in Wisconsin last year, must stay away from white supremacists, guns and booze, a judge has ruled.
The decision comes after Rittenhouse, who is free of $ 2 million bail, was spotted in a bar in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, posing for a photo with two men showing an “OK” sign – an alleged white power symbol.
Prosecutors asked to change the terms of Rittenhouse’s bail once the photo surfaced.
A judge in Wisconsin was required, declaring that Rittenhouse “will not knowingly engage in behavior with any person or group of persons known to harm, threaten, harass or threaten others based on their race, beliefs on the subject of religion,” skin color, national origin or gender. “
The 18-year-old is also prohibited from obtaining a firearm and consuming alcohol.
The legal drinking age in Wisconsin is 21, but Rittenhouse was legally allowed to drink at the bar because he was with his mother.
Rittenhouse was 17 when he joined an armed militia on August 25, ostensibly to protect businesses in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during protests over the shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man shot in the back seven times by white police.
Rittenhouse fired his assault rifle during the protest and killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. The shooting also injured Gaige Grosskreutz, authorities said.
He has since pleaded not guilty to the assassinations resulting from the shootings and claims he fired in self-defense.
