Konnan explains why AAA and CMLL do not work together

In the last month of 2020, many fighting companies started talking about the possibility of working together; AAA and CMLL cannot be understood.

AEW and IMPACT Wrestling have started working together and who knows what 2021 will bring to those two companies. Triple H also said that WWE is “open for business” when it comes to potential partnerships and collaboration with other companies, so it’s an interesting time to be a fan of professional wrestling.

However, the two largest fighting promotions in Mexico are impassive to work with each other for various reasons. The last time the two companies worked together, it didn’t end well, with the matches feeling more like a shootout between fighters than a job.

Konnan, who has worked for WCW, IMPACT Wrestling, Lucha Underground and countless other promotions around the world, has tried to get AAA and CMLL to work together in the past, but it just doesn’t work.

Konnan tried to help AAA and CMLL work together

Recently, speaking with Michael Morales Torres of Lucha Libre Online, Konnan spoke openly about his frustrations that AAA and CMLL have not given up on their past to build a better future for both companies.

“I tried to help them work together. But there is a natural paranoia. It is possible that one company does not trust the other or they have had problems in the past and that the scar has not healed yet. And I say, “Brother … What does it matter? What matters is to give people something different. Your champion is coming here. The champion here goes there. Bring a fighter and do a 3-month program here and another fighter there. And we all help each other. It is not that, for example, New Japan (NJPW) does not work with us (AAA), because they work with CMLL, ie Consejo. The council (CMLL) is not working with AAA due to a problem between two men who are no longer here (both founders are dead).

“Imagine that guy! I don’t even think Dorian (the owner of AAA) was born even when the problem started. Maybe he was just a boy. Sofia (the owner of CMLl) was just a girl. I don’t think I even know each other. “I don’t know if I can explain. Then they crawl. They once had an event here called ‘Padrísimo.’ Televisa (the TV network) made the two companies (AAA and CMLL) work together. “They fought each other. FOR REAL! CMLL fans are like WWE fans, but worse. They’re thrown in like you have no idea. Can you imagine if these companies did something together? country for years. But there are egos. There is nothing f ****** other than the ego. “
