Konami production restructuring did not “close the gaming division”

When the little snipers gather, you are like a sewing circle …

Last week, industrial giant Konami announced it would undergo a corporate restructuring, consolidating some internal departments and rearranging its staff to better streamline its production division in response to a rapidly changing market. However, what it did not do was “close its gaming division.”

That was the word that spread on the internet yesterday, appearing on all social networks, despite the actual announcement made on January 15. In response to this rumor of rapid spread, the long-time developer sent an official written statement in a hurry to IGN, confirming that, for the most part, it remains as usual at chez Konami.

“The announcement made refers to an internal restructuring, the production divisions being consolidated”, it is shown in the statement. “We have not ‘closed’ our video game division.”

In essence, these changes simply move more top executives into new roles, while they officially dissolve and then restructure several production divisions into larger, single departments. The staff of each dissolved division expects to turn into roles in the new teams. Konami ‘s restructuring is effective February 1, 2021.

So don’t worry, Konami is still around so as not to make a new one Silent Hill.
